Celebrating Ability Sunday

Tuesday 10th September 2019

The theme for our Ability Sunday, held at St Andrew's on 8 September 2019, was 'building a church where everyone can take part.' Some of our congregation have challenging disabilities of various kinds but on the day we focused on their abilities.
At the outset of the service (conducted by Revd Ian and Revd Anne) Simon lit the candle by the pulpit. A reading from Psalm 139 was read by Thelma (who is registered blind) and Geoffrey led our prayers from his wheelchair. Revd Agnita Oyawale (chaplain of Bromley town centre and trustee of Liveability) presented an inspirational talk describing how each one of us is loved, supported and gifted by God.
In addition to our regular offering there was a special collection for Liveability, the charity that seeks to enable disabled people. We were able to give £135 to Lisa Hemsley, the representative of the charity, who attended the service.
