Mottingham Remembrance Day 2018

Sunday 11th November 2018

The people of Mottingham marked the centenary of the cessation of hostilities in the First World War at the annual Remembrance Sunday Service held at the War Memorial today. The service was conducted by Churches Together In Mottingham and supported by the Mottingham Concert Band. Revd Ian Welch, Rector of St Andrew's Parish Church led the service and gave a moving homily (see below). It was heartwarming and poignant to see so many people at the service which started in damp, overcast conditions. Soon after the two minutes silence and laying of wreaths the sun made a welcome appearance and the service concluded with the singing of the National Anthem in bright sunshine.
